WordPress 3.6 has just released a few days ago and the new Twenty Thirteen theme is great, but the development of this cool and easy to use cms goes on. Today i found some screenshots of the new Twenty Fourteen WordPress Theme. Its a great magazine based themes with a great font and a lot of more stuff. Damn, i love this theme! Hopefully the next theme will released this year.

To be released with WordPress version 3.8, the “Further” theme has been chosen as the next default theme — renamed Twenty FourteenTakashi Irie, the theme’s author, explains some of the motivations behind its development here. That’s Takashi personal take. Before this theme is released, it will go through some revisions and/or improvements by WordPress core team and by contributors.

It’s a magazine style theme with heavy emphasis on featuring multiple media — images and videos. I’m a bit surprised by this choice. It’s a great looking theme, but feels inconsistent with the recent push to focus on blogging by WordPress core. The Twenty Thirteen theme was all about single-author blogging, not to mention the failed inclusion of Post Formats UI which was supposed to improve micro blogging. This upcoming default theme feels more like a magazine for multi-author sites.
